Testimonials

"I whole heartedly support the further development of the Stewart-Marchman Center here in Bunnell. The additional dormitories, auditorium and kitchen/dining facilities will enhance the valuable services provided to our community. Stewart-Marchman truly provides an honorable benefit to those in need," - Joann B. King, Mayor, City of Bunnel
“As Administrative Judge for Flagler County, I have been reviewing services being provided to the court system by Stewart-Marchman Center. I’m obliged to report both good news and bed news. The good news is that services have been outstanding. The bad news is our needs are constantly increasing. Because of our population growth, it is evident we will continue to increase our need for services for our citizens. As you are aware, nearly every morning fo the day, court begins with Stewart-Marchman proceedings. My criminal docket is continuing to grow and seems to always involve some issue of substance abuse. Presently we expect to begin our Drug Court program which will further demand resources. It is clear, as well, that substance abuse problems are not effectively addressed by punitive measures alone. Treatment is the most effective and least expensive method for dealing with our growing drub problem in the long run. Please do all you can to meet the growing need for services and thank you and Stewart-Marchman for your continuing assistance." - Kim C. Hammond, Circuit Court Judge
"I am excited about the provision of comprehensive, quality substance abuse treatment, education, and prevention services in this pristine Flagler County setting. The proposed research center, in conjunction with the University of Florida's Shands Hospital, will quickly impact upon the local, state and national substance abuse treatment systems. What an exciting venture for Flagler County!" - Dr. Ernest Cantley, President, Stewart-Marchman Center
“The services provided to the people of Volusia and Flagler County, are a major reason why we have such a nice place to live. I have learned a great deal about community-based treatment through our collaboration with Stewart Marchman. We have found their programs ideally suited for education and training of addiction professionals. We have an infrastructure and history of collaboration that makes research more likely to be successful. UFBI s research competencies and facilities will make the joint research focused on real problems in our community and successful.” - Mark S. Gold, Distinguished Professor, University of Florida

"As a life-long law enforcement officer and Sheriff of Volusia County, I’ve seen up-close the devastating impact that substance abuse has on society. Substance abuse isn’t just a family problem or a police problem. It’s a community problem, and we all must work together to help break the cycle of addiction. The services provided by the Stewart-Marchman Center are a vital part of the work that’s being done in our community to change and mend lives by breaking that cycle. I encourage you to support Stewart-Marchman in its continuing efforts to bring hope and treatment and renewal to those who’re afflicted by addiction. Your assistance will help to fund vital programs that will make this a better community for all of us." - Ben Johnson, Volusia County Sheriff

“The expansion of the Stewart Marchman Substance Abuse Treatment Facility in Flagler County will provide help for the ever increasing number of Flagler citizens who need treatment for alcohol and drug abuse. This new facility will accommodate fifty patients for residential treatment. Reducing alcohol and drug abuse means less crime and a safer community. Treatment promotes rehabilitation and restores citizens to their family to become productive members of the community.” - John Tanner, State Attorney for the Seventh Judicial Circuit
